Migori College Closed Indefinitely over Terror Fears

The college’s deputy principal Mr Aboma Akeyo says the closure was a precautionary measure following intelligence reports indicating that al-Shabaab operatives were targeting the institution.

About 200 students were asked to go home on Sunday evening following the alert issued by police.

Security agencies in Migori County, led by county commissioner Anne Ngetich and County Commander David Kirui, on Monday held a closed door meeting to deliberate on the issue.

Migori county commander David Kirui said investigations are ongoing and refuted claims that two suspects had been arrested and explosive devices recovered.

The incident comes in the backdrop of the Garissa university attack in which 148 people were killed.

Security has however been beefed-up, at the institution.
