Migori County Accused Of Inequitable Distribution Of Resources
Okoth, who is also the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for North Kadem Ward in Nyatike, said that the policy to equitable distribute resources to all wards is impractical as some wards have bigger areas than others hence deserve different allocation.
He said that the county government should put into consideration ward geographical sizes, needs and population before allocating the resources to satisfy the equitable resources location slogan.
Mr. Okoth further argued that some wards have a good number of facilities while others have no facilities at all and therefore such factors should also be considered in distributing the county resources to the ward level.
The deputy speaker also argued that some wards have enjoyed a bigger share in resource allocations while others have been ‘starving’.
Mr. Okoth said that his ward’s underdevelopment was as a result of inadequate resources distribution by the county government.
He challenged the county government to ascertain the urgent development needs of every ward before implementing its resources allocation policy.
