Migori County employee charged with raping workmates wife

A Migori County employee has been charged with raping his colleague’s wife and attempting to defile their daughter.

The court was told that David Kaunda, who works at the Health Department, committed the heinous act on January 23, 2021 at the Migori County Level Four Hospital.

The accused was arrested on Monday after police were alerted over the incident while the 15-year-old girl and her mother were admitted to hospital.

Kaunda appeared before Migori Resident Magistrate Dickson Odhiambo where he denied the charges.

He was released on a bond of Ksh. 200,000 or surety of a similar amount.

The cases will be heard in March 2021.

The Sexual Offenses Act No. 3 of 2006 states that a person who commits an offense of attempted defilement with a child is liable upon conviction to imprisonment for a term of not less than 10 years.

The Act further states that a person guilty of rape is liable upon conviction to imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than ten years but which may be enhanced to imprisonment for life
