Migori court assistant to be charged for demanding Ksh.100K bribe
A court assistant in Migori County is set to
face charges for allegedly demanding a bribe in order to help an accused person
secure a lighter sentence in a criminal case.
The court staffer, Shadrack Odhiambo, is said
to have solicited a bribe of Ksh.100,000 but received Ksh.20,000 from the
accused.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions
(ODPP), in a statement released on Thursday, said Mr. Odhiambo will be charged
with two counts of receiving a bribe contrary to section 6(1)(b) as read with
section 18(1) of the Bribery Act, 2016.
