Migori Governor Okoth Obado to skip Raila visit in Awendo

Migori Governor Okoth Obado will on Friday snub an event that is to be presided over by his party leader Raila Odinga.

Raila is expected to be officiating the groundbreaking ceremony of the Awendo Kenya Medical Training College.

However, Obado has said he will not attend the function, citing a court restriction that limits his movement.

“I would have wished to join Raila Odinga and the people of Awendo in the commissioning of the KMTC..unfortunately the orders given by the court in the Sharon Otieno murder case bar me from stepping into Awendo town because of its proximity to Homa Bay County,” the Governor said at a Press briefing on Thursday.

Obado however expressed optimism that one day he will have his freedom to access every part of this county and beyond.

Awendo MP Walter Owino has confirmed that Raila Odinga will visit the constituency to also inspect various projects.

Meanwhile, Obado has defended Supreme Court Judge Jackstone Ojwang’ over claims that he benefitted from the upgrade of a road leading to his Migori home.

According to the Governor, the road towards Kakrao village is public road and used by many residents.

He further expressed disappointment with individuals he claimed ‘are out to soil Ojwang’s name’.

“Justice Ojwang is being fought unnecessarily by individuals who have their own self missions to achieve,” Obado added.

The governor said he is ready to appear before the tribunal formed to probe justice Ojwang’ so that the can shed light into the matter.
