Migori IDPs say plot to remove them from beneficiaries’ list

Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Migori County now claim a ploy to remove their names from the IDPs list of those affected after the 2007/08 post election violence.

Migori County IDPs chairperson, John OtienoMarenga, said they had received information on how the IDP is to be ‘mutilated’ and some names removed.

The list contains over 4,000 victims to be compensated by the government for the loss they suffered when the country plunged into chaos after the December 27, 2007 General Election.

Marenga noted that the IDPs’ representatives have held several meetings without involving the victims.

The chairperson want the matter investigated and all those who were affected by the violence compensated.
