Migori KCSE candidate ‘kidnapped’ with only 2 papers left
A candidate sitting the 2017 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam in Suna East, Migori went missing on Tuesday evening, with only two papers left to complete his national examination.
Confirming the incident, Migori County Police boss Joseph Nthenge said Martin Omondi of Witharaga Secondary School, allegedly sent his girlfriend a text message claiming that he had been kidnapped by unknown people.
Omondi is said to have left home but never returned. Efforts by the parents and the girlfriend to locate him were in vain.
Nthenge added that police and other relevant authorities are on the ground trying to locate the missing candidate.
Witharaga Secondary School Principal Gideon Odhiambo told Citizen Digital that Omondi has been the top candidate in the 2017 Form Four class.
The principal described Omondi as an ambitious student saying he had opted to repeat Form Four after scoring a C (plain) in last year’s exam.
The principal said the school has been perturbed by his disappearance and they are also working closely with the authorities to locate him.
Omondi only had Biology and Chemistry practicals to go before completing his exams and Secondary education.
