Migori man attempts suicide over Ksh.140 debt

A 30-year-old man is recuperating in Migori after he allegedly attempted to commit suicide following a domestic squabble with his wife over a Ksh.140 debt.

The man identified as Mika Otieno Okoth, ingested poison after the wife asked him to pay the debt owed to a maize seller, area chief Nashon Odira said.

According to the chief, the man was agitated after his wife refused to sell their subwoofer to raise the money.

Moments later, he was found laying on the floor and rushed to the Macalder Health Centre.

Mr. Odira decried the rising cases of suicide in the area noting that many people take their own lives over petty issues that can be solved through counselling.
