Migori man shot as he attacked police officer

A suspected robber was on Sunday shot and injured in Migori County following a confrontation with a police officer at Kitunja village in Rongo Sub County.

Joshua Odhiambo, who was allegedly found stealing sugarcane from a tractor in Kitunja village, was shot in the leg after he tried to attack one of the officers who ambushed him.

Migori County Police Commander Joseph Nthenge confirmed the incident saying police were acting in retaliation after the suspect attacked one of the officers with a panga and attempted to escape to a nearby plantation.

“The police department exists to offer security and anybody who will curtail this very role will face the full force of the law especially those who have little respect for our men in uniform,” Mr. Nthenge warned.

He said the matter is under investigation and necessary action will be take against the suspect.
