Migori MCA Runs Away With Mace

Kakrao Ward Representative Joe Gucha tried to escape with the assembly mace after the Speaker Gordon Ogolla declined his point of order following the report tabled by the ad hoc committee on the dismissal motion against Migori County Executive Committee member in charge of finance, Mr Thomas Kasera, over claims of incompetence.

The drama emerged after the MCAs failed to agree on the report that recommended that the CEC member appears before the assembly within 30 days to responds to the committee findings.

A section of the MCAs led by West Sakwa ward representative Philip Ouma opposed the committee report saying that it was unconstitutional and that its findings on the allegations concerning the incompetency of the CEC member cannot be adopted by the assembly.

Gucha decided to walk away with the mace after he unsuccessfully tried to second Mr. Ouma on the motion.

The mace signifies the authority in the assembly.
