Migori Referral Hospital workers demand 9 months salary arrears

Casual workers attached to the Migori County Referral Hospital who have not been paid salaries for the past nine months have decried frustration from some of the top managers in the Department of Health calling for the intervention of Migori County Governor Okoth Obado.

Some of the casual workers who spoke to radio Ramogi on condition of anonymity for fear of victimization said they have never been paid salaries for the past nine months adding that their effort to ask for the salaries have always been met with threats.

Richard John (not real name) said eight casual workers have been sent home since January 2021 because they asked for payment from the management.

Richard said the people in charge are not coming out to tell them the truth adding that they have always been subjected to threats and intimidation.

He said some of the casual workers have been chased away by the landlord because unpaid rents and they are putting up with friends.

The helpless casual workers attached to Migori Level Four hospitals want the government to help them get their payment which has accumulated for nine months.

In a rejoinder Migori CEC for Health Kephas Nyamitta said they are working on plans to pay the casual workers urging them to remain patient.
