Migori residents decry crocodile attacks

Residents of Osiri in Nyatike sub-county, Migori County, now want the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) to remove a crocodile from River Kuja citing numerous attacks.

According to locals who spoke to Citizen Digital, some of them have been bitten while others have survived attacks from the reptile in the past few weeks while fetching water at the said river.

Pascal Odhiambo, one of the locals, said they have been forced to look for alternative sources of water because of the threat posed by the crocodile; a task he says has proven impossible as River Kuja is reportedly the only water source in the region.

Mr. Odhiambo added that the crocodile killed one of the locals a year ago and left others injured and nursing bite marks when they went to fetch water at River Kuja.

The locals now want relevant authorizes to expeditiously deal with the reptile and prevent any such future incidences.
