Migori senator-elect Ochillo Ayacko puts county govt on notice over corruption

Migori County senator-elect Ochillo Ayacko has put the county government on notice over corrupt deals.

Addressing residents of Migori town on Tuesday after IEBC declared him winner of the by-election,  Ayacko said fighting corruption would be one of his three main agendas.

He said corrupt individuals at the county government must prepare for a tough battle, as he would not sit and watch the plundering of public resources at the expense of service delivery for Migori residents.

The former minister also said the unity of the people of Migori and equal distribution of resources in all corners of the county are part of his agenda.

“I have only three agendas when we get to the Senate, and those agendas are related to the Building Bridges (Initiative). I want to give the county government a notice that, within two months, we do not want to hear the issue of corruption again… and that is not a request,” said Mr. Ayacko.

Mr. Ayacko is expected to be sworn in later in the week so he can take up his role as the third Senator of Migori County.

Ochillo Ayacko won the Migori senatorial by-election race after garnering 85,234 votes while Eddy Oketch came second with 60,555 votes.
