Migori: Six remandees escape from moving police vehicle, 2 rearrested

Six remandees at Migori GK Prison on Wednesday evening escaped by jumping from a moving police vehicle at Stella in Uriri, Migori County.

The remandees were being ferried from Rongo Law Courts to the prison when they escaped from the police vehicle and disappeared into a neighboring sugarcane plantation. Two were later rearrested.

Confirming the incident, Migori County Police Commander Joseph Nthenge said the two were captured by the police after several hours of search in the sugarcane plantation but four still remain at large.

The police boss appealed to members of the public to help them trace the suspect, further adding that the four at-large remandees were in handcuffs when they escaped.

Mr. Nthenge expressed confidence that the suspects will soon be rearrested, saying police officers have already been deployed to hunt for them.
