Migori traders raise alarm over increasing traffic

The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) Migori County Branch chairman, Samule Rumo, has called on the Migori County Government to ease the congestion in Migori town saying that it is negatively impacting on business.

He said accessing the town using a vehicle has become a challenge because shops are haphazardly erected and vehicles parked in undesignated areas adding that there was urgent need to reorganise the town.

Rumo has also called upon the County Government of Migori to establish an alternative route to and from Migori to ease the traffic that has been regularly experienced in the town.

Rumo said that it was very unfortunate that Migori town can only be accessed through one highway through the road that connects Kenya and Tanzania.

He further claimed that the situation is greatly limiting business activities in the town citing the case where the town experienced a major traffic snarl up on Friday after a lorry which was transporting construction material developed mechanical problems forcing motorists to wait for hours to access the highway.
