Migori Woman Rep injured, bodyguard killed in road accident
Migori Woman Representative Dr. Pamela Odhiambo was Sunday morning injured and her bodyguard killed in a road accident at Winyo area on the Homa Bay – Rongo highway.
Rongo OCPD Peter Kirui said the woman representative, her bodyguard, driver and two other officers were heading to Migori when the double cabin vehicle they were travelling in veered off the road and rolled several times.
The driver is reported to have lost control of the vehicle while trying to avoid hitting a boda-boda rider.
The aide, Fred Owich, died on the spot while the woman representative, David Ouma (driver), Duncan Rachuonyo (communications officer) and Dan Amoki (Migori County Coordinator Affirmative Action officer) sustained several injuries.
The four were rushed to the Aga Khan hospital in Kisumu, while the bodyguard’s body was moved to Rosewood hospital mortuary.
The vehicle was towed to Rongo Police Station.
Opposition chief Raila Odinga condoled with the bodyguard’s family as he wished the Migori Woman Representative a quick recovery.
“We have received disturbing news about Migori Woman Representative Hon. Dr Pamela Odhiambo being involved in a grisly road accident this morning. I wish the MP quick recovery,” said Odinga in a tweet.
“My deep and sincere condolences to the family of Dr. Odhiambo’s body guard Mr. Owich who, unfortunately, lost his life in the accident.”
