TIMELINE: Miguna deportation saga
February 7, 2018 – Miguna Miguna deported from Kenya to Canada for ‘being in the country illegally.’
March 26, 2:30pm – Miguna returns to Kenya aboard Emirates Flight EK19.
3:00pm – Miguna asked to surrender Canadian passport but lawyers advise him against it.
4:00pm – Miguna declines to be granted a tourist visa, which bars the holder from engaging in business or politics.
5.50pm – Senator James Orengo arrives at JKIA to secure Miguna release.
10:00pm – Nasa Leader RailaOdinga arrives at airport.
10:10pm – Scuffle at airport as Miguna supporters demand his release.
11:00pm – Businessman Jimmy Wanjiigi arrives at airport. Demands to be allowed to join Miguna at the terminal.
11:30 pm – Drama at JKIA as police clobber journalists broadcasting the stand- off at JKIA.
11:39pm – Nasa Leader Raila Odinga departs from JKIA. Refuses to address media.
11:40pm – Senator James Orengo confirms that Miguna has been for to a Dubai-bound flight.
11:50pm – Citizen TV obtains exclusive footage showing Miguna aboard a Dubai-bound Emirates flight.
12:20am – Emirates Flight EK 722 departs from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport while Miguna is left behind.
8:15am – Immigration Department sends application forms to the airport for Miguna to regularise his citizenship status.
10: 30am – Journalists blocked from accessing the airport while those who were already inside are escorted out.
10:35am – Miguna’s Kenyan lawyers denied access to him; only Canadian counsel allowed to see him.
11am – Miguna refuses to fill application papers sent to him from Kenya’s Immigration Department.
11.35am – Police from the General Service Unit (GSU) arrive at the airport.
