Millitary to guard KEMRI outlets to safeguard serious chemicals
Interior CS Major Gen. (Rtd.) Joseph Nkaissery says that the government will deploy military to guard all Kenya Medical Research Institutes to protect serious chemicals within the institution.
The Interior CS further stated that this protection will also ensure that these chemicals are not sneaked out and used to manufacture weapons by terrorists.
Speaking while on a security inspection tour of KEMRI head offices in Nairobi, Nkaissery said though there is no imminent security threat, the institution deals with serious chemicals which can be used to cause harm.
Health CS Cleopas Mailu, who accompanied Nkaissery, said all the 90 branches of KEMRI across the country will now be fully guarded.
