Ministry of Health intensifies the COVID-19 vaccination campaign

A mass vaccination drive kicked off on Saturday in Nairobi with residents in the county urged to show up and get the COVID-19 jab.

The mass vaccination drive, targeting people aged above 18, kicked off at Taj Mall stage in Embakasi with a good turn out reported on the first day.

The target was 1,000 people being vaccinated by 5pm Saturday, with the exercise expected to be rolled out across the country, targeting 10 million people by December.

The exercise is being carried  out by the Ministry of Health in partnership with the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) and the national multi agency command centre.

It is set to continue on Sunday at the Taj Mall stage, Jacaranda grounds, Kariobangi market, Holy Cross Catholic Church Dandora Phase 3, PCEA Church and Kings Celebration Gospel Church Soweto Muungano.

However, those who showed up said there was need for counselling and giving of tips on the vaccine and its side effects to those who come to get the jab.
