Miracle Baby Jeremy who was born at 400gm finally discharged from KNH

Medics at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) on Wednesday discharged Baby Jeremy after five months of incubation.

The baby was born on April 1, 2019 at 24 weeks and weighed 400 grams.

KNH Chief Executive Dr. Evanson Kamuri said the baby currently weighs 3.5kg.

“He will be discharged today…I can assure Kenyans that services offered to the new born are up-to-date,” he said.

Earlier, Dr. Miriam Karanja, a neonatologist, had narrated how the baby had difficulty breathing after birth.

Baby Jeremy is the second baby at KNH to be born weighing 400g; the first one was Baby Hope.

Dr. Karanja also revealed that Baby Jeremy suffered from rickets as a result of lack of enough calcium when the mother was pregnant.

He however noted that the baby is now healthy and was even among those counted during the census.

The medics then proceeded with a cake-cutting ceremony to celebrate Baby Jeremy who was later handed over to the eagerly awaiting parents.
