During her week-long stay at KNH, Baby Dealeryn’s medical bill rose to sh30, 000 – an amount that Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has cleared.

Baby Dealeryn was rescued four days after the building came tumbling down, causing people to marvel at how the infant survived the tragedy.

Addressing the press as she was being discharged from the health facility, doctors said the infant was in perfect health, having sustained only a few bruises.

It was, however, a bitter sweet experience for the baby’s father Ralson Wasike as his wife’s body was later found in the debris.

Baby Dealeryn is the couple’s first and only child.

On April 26, an apartment building collapsed in Huruma following heavy rains in the city.

This is not the first time that questions have been raised about the safety of buildings constructed in Nairobi.

In January 2015 another building collapsed in Huruma, killing four people and injuring many others.

Five months later, a commercial building in Zimmerman collapsed, barely a month after it was found to be defective.
