‘Miracle’ of Nyeri goat that gives birth to 5 kids at a time

A 46-year-old woman and a mother of two is counting blessing after her dairy goat gave birth to five kids

Mumbi Dancun, who hails from Miiri colonial village in Mathira, has christened her she-goat ‘Jane’, a name she says she loves.

News about ‘Jane’s’ ability to give birth to five kids has shocked the village, with scores of farmers visiting her home to convince her to sell them the goat

Mumbi says she developed an interest in farming dairy goats in 2009 when a friend asked her whether she knew of a farmer who was selling dairy goats

One year later, she had ‘Jane’ and served her with a he-goat, and after five months ‘Jane’ gave birth to two kids, unfortunately, they both died.

The second time it gave birth to two, then the next time it gave birth to three kids.

The fourth and fifth time it gave birth to four kids, before giving birth to five kids in the subsequent two pregnancies.

In total, ‘Jane’ has given birth to 25 kids, which Mumbi terms “a great blessing from God”.

Her dream is that one day she would get more land to expand her dairy farm as she has been forced to sell most of ‘Jane’s’ kids due to lack of space.
