Mishi Mboko’s rival rejects poll results

Mishi Mboko

A Jubilee Party candidate for the Likoni parliamentary seat in Mombasa County is now contesting provisional results that show Orange Democratic Movement’s (ODM) Mishi Juma Mboko leading in the race.

Mwalimu Masudi Mwahima has dubbed Tuesday’s August 8 polls a ‘sham and botched process that do not reflect the will the people’.

Speaking on Wednesday, August 9 at his home, Mwahima said that Tuesday’s process was marred by massive electoral malpractices and that he was not defeated fairly.

He now wants the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) not to declare the parliamentary results from the constituency until there is a recount.

The provisional results are as follows;

Ms Mboko of ODM, 27,075 votes (55.62%)

Mwahima of Jubilee, 14,505 votes (29,80%)

Suleiman Shakombo of WDM-K, 2,601 votes (5.34%)
