Missing 7-year-old boy found dead, genitals chopped off

The body of a seven year old boy, who went missing on Friday last week in Bondo, Siaya County has been recovered in a bush near Usenge town.

Geoffrey Otieno, who had been missing from their home in Usenge sub-location for the last two days, was found dead on Sunday evening, in a bush at Pap-Komenya grounds, less than one kilometer from Usenge town.

According to the area Assistant Chief Manasse Osuri, the body was discovered by children who had gone to play at Pap-Komenya before they sensed some foul smell emanating from the bush.

He said that upon checking what could have been the source of the foul smell, the children discovered the body before raising an alarm that attracted members of the public.

Mr. Osuri told Radio Ramogi that members of the public alerted the police who came to the scene and the body, which had the genitals chopped off, was moved to Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary after identification.

“The motive behind the small boy’s murder has not yet been established,” Mr Osuri said adding that, “we suspect that the boy might have been murdered elsewhere before his body was brought and dumped in that bush.”

The administrator said investigations had been launched to establish the motive behind the killing.
