Missing Baringo MCA found dead

Churo Amaya MCA Thomas Minito has been found dead at Oldonyo Sabuk area, Machakos County.

According to Matungulu OCPD Joseph Lutukai, the body of the slain was discovered on River Athi by a boda boda operator.

After inspecting the body, police noted that Minito’d head had an injury – one which they suspect was inflicted by a blunt object.

They also found a campaign poster bearing his name in his coat pocket.

Minito was last seen alive three days ago in Kabarnet town.  The MCA was having lunch was when he was reportedly accosted by two unknown men posing as police officers.

“He left the County Assembly to go and have lunch with a lady friend who is an educationist in Tiaty. On reaching there, they found 3 people who told him he was under arrest,” said Deputy Speaker Douglas Kiplimo

When he did not return after 20 minutes, the lady contacted his peers at the County Assembly about Minito’s arrest and later on trooped to the Kabarnet Sub County Police Headquarters to inquire about his arrest.

“The police told us they are not aware of any arrest warrant,” said Kiplimo

The 35-year-old MCA’s mobile phone network signal disappeared at 3 o’clock.

Kiplimo indicated that they further contacted Rumuruti Police station in Laikipia where he had earlier been detained, but they also said that they had no knowledge of his arrest.

Minito had been out on bond until this week Tuesday when he disappeared. He had been accused of incitement and damage to property over the invasion of conservationist Kuki Gallman’s ranch in Laikipia.

Minito’s family and friends asked officers to investigate the young leader’s death.

His death also comes three months after another MCA from the area was brutally murdered at a bar in Marigat town.
