Missing Limuru school girls likely lured to Malindi for sex trade – Police

Two girls from a Limuru school who had been reported missing have been found in Malindi where it is believed they were to be used for child sex trade.

Speaking to the press, Malindi OCPD Matawa Muchangi said the 17-year-old girls my have been lured into the coastal town for sex trafficking.

Muchangi said investigations did not show the girls were in Malindi for any terrorism related acts like radicalization or training.

According to Muchangi, a man only identified as Kamau convinced the Form Three students that he would connect them with jobs and foreigners in Malindi.

“The girls met Kamau back home and he told them he works in Malindi and assured them of work if they came to Malindi,” said the police boss.

“He told them that even if they wanted white men then they would find them because Malindi has a lot of white men. He (Kamau) left them the bus fare of Ksh.8,000 and told them they would find him at Malindi stage on arrival.”

The girls were, however, unable to trace the man on arrival in Malindi.

“They went round Malindi the whole day but could not find Kamau. In the evening, they met another man named Duncan to whom they explained their troubles and he took them to his house where they spent the night,” said Muchangi.

The two were traced to a house in Maweni, Malindi, before they were taken to Malindi Police Station where they are being interrogated awaiting the arrival of their parents.
