Missing Migori girls found hiding at quarry with gold miners

Four female students from a school in Awendo, Migori County, who went missing a few days ago have been arrested and detained at Kamagambo Police Station in Rongo Sub-county.

The girls from St. Feres Kanindo Secondary School were arrested on Monday at Kopuodho gold mine in Rongo where they are reported to have been hiding together with four gold miners.

Confirming the incident, North Kamagambo location senior chief John Agoro said the men who had been housing the girls managed to escape, but police had launched a hunt for them.

The area chief said he had only managed to contact a parent of one of the students who wanted the daughter released but the request was turned down by the police who are still investigating the matter.

Rongo Deputy Children Officer said the students will be detained by the police as they await to be arraigned in court.

The officer noted that two of the girls are in Form One while the others are in Form Four.
