Missing schoolgirl Monicah Atieno found in Kabete with her mum

A day after Citizen TV highlighted the story of Monicah Atieno who had gone missing in August, the Class 7 girl has been found safe and sound.

Central Police Station Sub-County Police boss Mark Wanjala, the girl was found in Kabete in the company of her mum.

The girl’s parents fell out 11 years ago.

When she was questioned, the girl’s mother said she only met her daughter last week, a month after she went missing.

Police are currently interrogating the mother on the suspicion that she used several people to take the daughter away from her dad.

During a TV interview, the girl’s father Joseph Koko said his daughter was being trailed by unknown people before her disappearance.

On the fateful day, Koko told Citizen TV he left his daughter at the NACICO plaza on Moi Avenue at a friend’s office.

“There is my friend on the third floor, we always go there before we travel, I left her as I went about making plans for our journey,” Koko said.

The single-father says he however met his friend at the entrance of the building on his way back.

He was told that his daughter had followed him out.

Mr.Koko said the incident sounded suspicious as his daughter who has always been at the top of her class rarely ventured outside without her dad’s consent.

“I have raised my daughter since she was 2-years-old, she had never left my side, I would know this since I’m her dad,” he explained.
