Mobilise supporters to register as voters and stop whining opposition told

Devolution Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri has faulted the opposition Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) for launching early campaign in search for votes instead of wooing their supporters to register as voters.

Speaking at a thanksgiving ceremony at Kanjuri High School, the CS, who was responding to the constant opposition cries about Jubilee planning to rig the August 8 General Election, accused the Raila Odinga-led faction of doing little to rally their supporters to register as voters.

“Right now we are registering people, you already know about tyranny of numbers, you already know that you are trailing, instead of you doing serious business registering your people, you are busy entertaining people,” said Kiunjuri.

Kiunjuri also accused the opposition of planning to change the constitution to fit their large numbers of presidential hopefuls.

“Now they are busy planning on how to change the constitution so that they can fit Raila, they want a Prime Minister to be the head of government, and a President who will be a ceremonial figure.”

CORD has consistently accused the Jubilee administration of colluding with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to frustrate voter registration efforts in the opposition strongholds and planning to rig the 2017 polls in favour of the incumbent, President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto.
