Mohammed Aden charged with attempted murder of ex-Garissa CEC Idris Muktar

Two suspects were on Wednesday arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts in connection with the shooting of ex-Garissa Finance CEC Idris Muktar in Kileleshwa, Nairobi.

The two, Mohammed Aden and Juliet Njoki were charged with the attempted murder of Idris Muktar and lawyer Charles Kanjama.

According to the charge sheet, the suspects, jointly with others not before court, unlawfully attempted to kill Idris by shooting and injuring him at White Start restaurant on Kandara road, Kilweleshwa on August 19, 2018.

The two are also accused of conspiring to kill lawyer Charles Kanjama on diverse dates between July 1, 2018 to September 27,2018 at an unknown place within Nairobi.

The charge comes after David Mwai Wanjiku — a key suspect in the shooting– died under unclear circumstances inside a cell at Parklands Police Station.

Despite the claims and pathologist report that Mwai committed suicide, the family is adamant that he was murdered and have demanded thorough investigations.
According to Muktar’s family, prior to the shooting incident, the CEC had received death threats after the court ruled in his favour.
Muktar is still recuperating in a Nairobi hospital.
