Moi University campus in Siaya to get a facelift
The Odera Akango Campus of Moi University is scheduled to undergo a face lift after the County Government of Siaya signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the mother university to upgrade it.
The agreement signed by Siaya Governor, Cornel Rasanga, and Moi University Vice Chancellor, Prof Laban Ayiro, saw Ksh 35 million set aside to cater for the first phase by renovation of structures in the campus in Yala and Ksh 74.4 million for phase two that will see the construction of new buildings in a 85-acre-piece of land at the Nyaminia grounds.
Governor Rasanga added that the university would give scholarships to the County Government staff in return.
Speaking at Odera Akango Campus, Rasanga called upon the National Land Commission (NLC) to hasten the land transfer process from the previous owners, Kenya Broadcasting Cooperation (KBC), to the Moi University.
However, Prof Ayiro mentioned that the Commission for University Education (CUE) had been earlier approached to give the university a go ahead to start the expansion process.
