Moi University gets new temporary Vice Chancellor

The government has approved the appointment of Prof Laban Ayiro as the acting Vice Chancellor of Moi University with immediate effect  from September 19, 2016, following the expiry of the term of service for  Prof Richard K. Mibey.

The approval was made by the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Dr Fred Matiang’i, after a request by the Moi University Council seeking his approval to appoint from a list of three Professors; Prof Laban Ayiro, Prof Daniel Tarus and Prof Isaac Kimengi.

Prof Ayiro is Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor, Planning; Prof Tarus is Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor Finance while Prof Kimengi is Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic affairs.

According to the Chairman of the University Council, Prof J. I. Kinyamario, the appointment  will go for a period of three months or until such a time as the substantive Vice Chancellor shall have been appointed.

Kinyamario added that the process of appointing a substantive Vice Chancellor is on-going.

Prof Mibey has been at the helm of Moi University as Vice Chancellor for ten years.
