This comes after Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i launched an intensive war on drugs in the county that has so far seen 18 people arrested.

Police officers from different units as well as sniffer dogs on Monday evening pitched camp in the compound of Mr. Punjani’s posh Nyali home.

According to Mombasa Police Commander Johnstone Ipara, they will be forced to break into the house and search it for drugs in case the businessman refuses to present himself before authorities.

“We will not leave until we search this house top to bottom and establish that there are no drug substances inside,” said Mr. Ipara.

Among the 18 people that have since been arrested in the crackdown on drugs include Bofu Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Ahmed Salama who is expected to be arraigned in court on Tuesday.

42 Heroin sachets, 147 rolls of bhang as well as Ksh.608,000 in fake currency have since been recovered in the crackdown.
