Mombasa Mosques To Remain Closed

At the same time, Kapenguria MP Samuel Moroto has called on the government to beef up security along the country’s borders to prevent external forces from infiltrating into the country and radicalizing the youths.

This follows the arrest of 16 youth on Thursday night after they attempted to force their way into Swafaa mosque in Kisauni which had been closed by police.

Moroto said the arrest of youths being radicalized at different mosques in the coast region might not solve the rising cases of insecurity in the area.

Speaking at Tamugh area in Sook Division West Pokot County, Moroto urged the governemnt to secure border entry points which would greately prevent outside forces from radicalizing the youth upon entry.

This as coast leaders led by Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar on Friday condemned the blanket arrest of Muslim youth saying they are being targetted.

The leaders faulted the judiciary for not upholding the constitution by allowing for long detention of arrested suspects.
