Mombasa residents protest rising levels of graft in the country

Human Rights activists staged a demonstration in protest of increased corruption scandals in the country along the busy Moi Avenue in Mombasa on Thursday, November 11.

Led by Haki Africa CEO, Hussein Khaalid, the group converged at Haki Africa offices in Ganjoni area of Mombasa before proceeding to the Fonternella roundabout.

Transport along the road was paralyzed as the Operation Ondoa Panya demos took place.

The group of activists accused the national government of encouraging corruption within counties and the nation at large. They lamented over the number of exposed runaway corruption cases.

They maintained that they will embark on anti-corruption demonstrations across the country every Thursday to demand sacking of key perpetrators of corruption.

Residents of Mombasa also joined in the demonstrations carrying placards with messages condemning the increasing levels of corruption in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s ruling era.
