More than 20 KCSE candidates in Bomet are pregnant
More than 20 candidates sitting for their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam this year in Bomet County are pregnant.
Among the more than 20 students found to be expectant in Bomet, 13 of them are from St. Monica Secondary School.
Bomet County Commissioner Geoffrey Omondi said four such candidates were taking the exam at the Longisa County Referral Hospital.
“The trend is worrying and we are going to use CID officers to give us vital information that can lead to arrest of those involved,” said the commissioner.
The county commissioner noted that most of the affected candidates are from girls-only schools compared to mixed secondary schools.
