Moses Kuria: Referenda Waste of Time, Money

Speaking during a site visit at Gatundu Institute of Science and Technology, Kuria said that the Pesa Mashinani referendum drive was uncalled for, as it was possible to increase allocation to counties without subjecting members of the public to a referendum.

He said that the government was committed to the success of devolution and allocation of more funds to devolved governments was one step towards the realisation of that success.

While criticising Cord Coalition for their Okoa Kenya referendum push, Kuria said the move was meant to destabilise the government and drive attention away from the development agenda.

He cautioned Cord leader Raila Odinga against accusing Deputy President William Ruto of corruption, arguing “if he is just looking ways of being in the government or forming a coalition, he should apply for the job.”
