Mother abandons three-day old child in Migori

Police in Rongo are pursuing a woman suspected of abandoning her three-day-old infant in the house of an old woman at Kabuoro, Migori County.

The woman, whose name is yet to be disclosed, is said to have approached the old woman identified as Caren Aoko and requested her to hold the baby for her for a few minutes only never to come back.

The granny said that she fell into the trap after the woman convinced her that she was rushing to pick her luggage that had been dropped by a boda boda operator some few meters away.

Before the woman left the baby under her care, Aoko says that she (the woman) claimed that she was from Sori area in Nyatike Sub County and that she had some problem she would narrate to her after picking her belongings.

Aoko said he opted to take the infant to Rongo Police Station after waiting for the mother for several hours in vain.

Rongo Police Boss, Kisaka Muganda, said they are now looking for the mother and asked anybody with any information about her to report to the nearest police station.
