Tragedy as mother, four children die in Nandi landslide

Five people from the same family have been confirmed dead after they were buried alive following a landslide at Chepng’abai area in Nandi North, Nandi County early Saturday morning.

The five, who include a mother and her four children, three boys and one girl, were reportedly sleeping in their home when a landslide buried them alive.

Confirming the incident, area chief Loice Muchesya said the landslide occurred at 1 am and that all bodies have so far been retrieved.

Muchesya said the woman’s husband was not in the house at the time of the incident.

The tragedy follows heavy rains that have been pounding the area.
