Mother rescues son from suicide attempt

A 15-year-old primary school boy from Mkoloni Village in Kiunga Ward, Lamu County is recuperating at King Faad Hospital after he was rescued by his mother while trying to commit suicide.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, the boy, Awadh Hassan, intimated that he has no recollection of how he hang himself because he had no intention of committing suicide in the first place.

Hassan said that he only found himself locked in a pit latrine with a noose around his neck dangling from the roof of the toilet before he was rescued by his mother.

His distraught mother said that she is worried of his wellbeing and asked the doctors to perform a check up on him to confirm whether he is mentally ill.

She further said that she fears there might be a repeat of the same so Hassan will be forced to forego school
