Mother, Son Accused of Conspiracy to Murder Released on Bond

Appearing before Resident Magistrate Robinson Oigara, the two, Alice Giariku Ephantus, 45, and John Mburu Mwenda were ordered to be released on Sh100,000 bond each and to appear in court on March 25, 2015 where they will take their plea.

The prosecution had appealed to the magistrate to hold the two further as investigations continued, an appeal that was denied.

SWEAR AFFIDAVIT

The magistrate was forced to set aside the file and asked the prosecution to get the right briefing before the matter could go on.

The investigators efforts to swear an affidavit to be allowed to continue to hold the suspects at Manyatta hit a snag as the magistrate denied their application.

Last week, the court also released Embu County Assembly Deputy Speaker Ibrahim Swale on Sh100,000 bond and directed that he reports to the Eastern Police Headquarters daily for the next six days.

The three are being charged with conspiring to murder Morris Muchiri Nyaga on March 4, 2015 at Dallas Estate in Embu County.
