Mother walks 22km seeking justice for defiled daughter

The family of a 15-year old girl from Kithiga village in Embu has accused a magistrate court in the area of being ‘bribed’ to avert a justice after she was defiled by a man from their village.

Virginia Wanja, the mother to the girl, says that since the suspect was arraigned in court in December last year, no progress has been made.

She says that she has been walking for over 22 kilometres, from Kithiga to Embu town, only for the court to postpone the case on several occasions.

Wanja now says that her daughter has been suffering psychologically and emotionally despite the case remaining documented as No. 214/2015.

The suspect was released on a cash bail, freedom Wanja says torments her daughter psychologically.

Her elder daughter also reveals that the family of the suspect has on several occasions visited them seeking an out of court settlement.
