Mother Who Delivered 6.3kg Baby Gets Help

The mother who gave birth to a 6.3kg baby has a reason to smile after Bungoma Women Representative, Dr Reginalda Wanyonyi, vowed to cover her medical expenditure.

Caroline Chemutai was reportedly diagnosed with diabetes after delivering her baby three weeks ago at Kapsokwony District Hospital in Mt Elgon Sub County.

Speaking when she visited Chemutai at her home in Masindeti Village, Dr Wanyonyi said she would cater for Chemutai’s hospital bill and would ensure she receives proper healthcare.

When Citizen Digital visited Caroline Chemutai at his Masindeti Village last week Friday, her child’s health had deteriorated due to her condition.

The 36-year-old mother of six said that her son Harry Kimutai’s weight, which at birth was 6.3kgs, had reduced to 5.2kgs due to Chemutai’s condition and poor lifestyle.

“My health has been affected after the delivery of my child. I need to breastfeed the baby and, with my condition, I need a lot of food because of the medicine take,” she lamented.

Despite her condition, Caroline has promised to continue breastfeeding her baby as she goes on with her medication.
