Motorists spend night on Mombasa road following heavy rains

Hundreds of motorists were forced to spend the night on Mombasa road after a massive traffic snarl following the heavy rains.

The traffic which began on Saturday evening saw vehicles stuck in the mud and an accident involving a lorry and a pickup at Lukenya, claiming one life, built on the snarl up.

Traffic officers from Machakos and Athi River police divisions are currently trying to clear the traffic gridlock that was worsened by impatient motorists overlapping and stalled lorries along the road.

The travelers are still stranded with the Machakos base commander Abdinassir Harun saying they are doing everything possible to restore order.
