Motorists stuck in traffic for over six hours on Mombasa road

Transport along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway has been paralyzed after a trailer heading to Mombasa overturned blocking the road.

According to Mukaa OCPD Charles Muthui, the situation worsened when the crane that was trying to move the trailer also overturned prompting them to call in two more cranes to help save the situation.

Muthui also added that vehicles that attempted to evade the snarl up by driving on the wrong lanes complicated the situation even more.

Makueni County Commissioner Mohammed Maalim says the highway has started to clear up with vehicles moving slowly however he advises motorists to drive through Machakos-Wote-Makindu route to avoid being caught up in the traffic.
