Motorists trapped as flash floods sweep across city roads
Several city roads have been rendered impassable after heavy rains caused flash floods sweeping across major estates.
Police have urged motorists to avoid Ojijo Road, Museum Hill Road, and the section of Thika Superhighway between Pangani and Muthaiga after several vehicles were stuck and others reportedly swept away.
Nairobi Traffic Police boss Leonard Katana says they are monitoring the situation closely and urged motorists to be patient.
In Marsabit County, over 20 houses have been swept by similar flash floods. Families are reported to have also lost an estimated ten donkeys and over 2,000 goats.
The destruction of property is said to have happened at Ejello village, Koya location of Laisamis sub county.
According to area MCA Mohamuod Kochale, they have sought the intervention of the county government, stakeholders,donors and well wishers to assist the affected families.
