MP arrested for inciting residents to occupy Railways houses

Makadara Member of Parliament Benson Mutura and five other people were arrested for allegedly inciting locals to invade newly built Kenya Railways houses at Nairobi’s Makongeni estate.

The police had difficult time evicting illegal occupants who had occupied the new houses which were built at Mbotela and Makongeni as buffer between the railway line and surrounding estates.

Rowdy youth barricaded the busy Jogoo Road, stoning vehicles and engaging police in running battles.

Police had to call in reinforcement to finally evict unruly locals who had vowed to resist the eviction at all costs.

The houses were built as part of relocation action plan to benefit registered former occupiers of railway houses in the two estates.
