MP calls for joint CORD nominations

Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma on Friday  rooted for joint CORD nominations during next year’s general elections, saying the move would ensure victory in next year’s general elections.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Kaluma said a joint force would ensure victory against their rival  Jubilee in the upcoming  polls.

Further, Mr Kaluma called on the three co-principals Orange Democratic Movement’s Raila Odinga, Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka and Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetang’ula to put their differences aside.

Meanwhile, Elgeyo-Marakwet County ODM vice chairman Micah Kigen also urged the coalition’s leaders to avoid creating anxiety among their supporters in their push to be CORD’s flag bearer in 2017.

Recently Moses Wetang’ula, also the Bungoma Senator, has urged Odinga to shelve his presidential ambitions and support another candidate in the coming elections.

“Raila is our elder and we respect him but we want him to be the kingmaker. When we win the elections, he will have a special place in the CORD government,” said Wetangula.

Mr Odinga has been under intense pressure from his two co-principals to support their quest for State House with Kalonzo Musyoka telling his supporters that he has grown tired of waiting.

However, Odinga has described Wetang’ula and Musyoka’s utterances as friendly fire said in the spirit of vibrant party democracy.

Last month, during a tour of Narok the Odinga caused jitters in CORD ranks when he hinted that ODM may go it alone in the next elections.
