MP charged with malicious damage to property

Nakuru Town MP David Gikira, together with four other people, were on Monday charged with malicious damage to private property valued at Ksh 13 million.

Appearing before the Nakuru Chief Magistrate David Kemei, the five were charged that on May 19th, 2016, at Naka area of Nakuru County, jointly damaged a perimeter wall on a 10 acre parcel of land belonging to Ense Company.

According to the prosecution side, the accused mobilized a group of youth and locals who invaded and damaged the property accusing the company of grabbing the parcel of land from Naka Primary School.

The five denied the charges and were released on a Ksh 200,000 bond each with alternative cash bails of Ksh 50,000 each.

The case will be mentioned on July 25th and heard on August 25th.
