MP files motion to discuss NYS corruption allegations

Ugunja Member of Parliament Opiyo Wandayi has submitted a motion of urgency in Parliament that will pave way for the National Assembly to discuss the alleged misappropriation of Ksh Ksh 826 million at the National Youth Service (NYS) which is under the Ministry of Devolution headed by Anne Waiguru.

Wandayi, according to the motion, says that the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal facing Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru is of national importance hence the need to be debated and scrutinized by Parliament.

He added that the colossal amount of money involved, the counter accusations over claims of misappropriation between the CS, the Central Bank with rising political temperatures especially after the recent spectacles of demonstrations is reason enough to debate the issue.

Wandayi says that the public deserves to know what is going on at the NYS and the ministry of Devolution and whether the taxpayers have lost money or not.

Waiguru has been under fire after the Central Bank raised a red flag over a large payment of 826 million shillings from her ministry to the NYS which the CS claims is false and that she had in fact contacted the CID over the plot to steal the money.
